TÜV SÜD offers specialist knowledge for the medical industry in Erlangen
Over 250 medical companies and research facilities are clustered in the Erlangen-Nuremberg metropolitan region. Ursula Hahn, Managing Director of Medical Valley Bayern e.V. takes this as a sign of "excellent perspectives" for the development of a leading competence centre. The association focuses on further strengthening the medical and pharmaceutical location Erlangen. As partner of the association, TÜV SÜD Akademie GmbH has further extended its training programme on health subjects in Erlangen.
Today, almost one in four employees in Erlangen already work in the medical and health sector. Medical Valley Bayern e.V. – a joint initiative between the city of Erlangen, Erlangen-Nuremberg Friedrich-Alexander University, the International Chamber of Commerce and Siemens Medical Solutions – therefore set itself the task of accelerating further expansion of Erlangen-Nuremberg as a medical engineering centre. The association plans to network and extend the technological and scientific expertise of medical engineering companies, clinics and research facilities and to act as an umbrella organization representing the above parties in public.
For this purpose, Medical Valley Bayern e.V. now also cooperates with TÜV SÜD Akademie GmbH. The training specialist has expanded its health-sector training offerings at the Erlangen location. "We would like to support Medical Valley Bayern e.V. in building up and expanding a medical-engineering network and establish a sophisticated training portfolio for specialists operating in the medical devices and pharmaceutical sectors", says Kai Probst, Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Academy.
As early as the autumn of 2006, TÜV SÜD Academy launched a host of training courses focusing on optimized production processes for precision surgical instruments and other medical devices. In coordinated modules, participants can acquire qualifications as "Manager Regulatory Affairs" or "Specialist Technical Documentation".
Participants can also enrol in training courses addressing the approval and safety of active and non-active medical devices. TÜV SÜD experts also provide hands-on training to executives and employees from all fields in the health industry, training them in the establishment and continuous improvement of quality management systems. Training sessions for occupational health and safety and radiation protection officers plus seminars on facility management in hospitals or waste disposal round off the curriculum offered by TÜV SÜD Academy.
TÜV SÜD Akademie GmbH offers manufacturers and users of medical devices the most comprehensive further training programme throughout Europe. The lecturers also communicate their know-how as part-time lecturers at universities, e.g. to students of the Medical Technology School at Bremerhaven University.
Every year, 60,000 participants opt for study at TÜV SÜD Akademie GmbH, in over 400 different seminars held at 31 locations throughout Germany. The training experts also offer services in Poland, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Italy and Turkey.
