Verification of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories

Inclusion of your organization in the EU’s CO 2 Emissions Trading Scheme means that you will be obliged to prepare an inventory of your organization’s CO 2 emissions. The resulting Annual Emissions Inventory Reports must be verified by accredited bodies and furnish evidence that emissions rights held by your organization are sufficient to cover actual emissions. Inventory verification covers both review of your emissions data and confirmation that these data were collected in line with the approved monitoring procedure. Ex-post verification of inventories from previous years is also possible, provided data is available in a suitable form. Verified time series data relating to emissions trends is frequently used to back up initial allocation decisions.
