Digital instrumentation and control
In order to meet all safety performance requirements, specific demands and boundary conditions have to be considered when using computer-based systems. To this end we conduct analyses and evaluations of system architectures and structures in terms of their safety performance requirements. In the process, we pay special attention to the demands on failure control, such as redundancy, diversity, independence, distribution as well as the resulting measures for failure avoidance. The specific quality assurance requirements of the devices and components used are evaluated according to various guidelines, including those of the KTA, DIN IEC, etc.
Data security and access protection of computers and communication systems
The functional safety of technical processes can be jeopardized through deficiencies in data security and access protection of computer and communication systems. This can be prevented through measures planned as part of an application-specific security concept. To this end, various services for use in safety process control were developed:
- integrated safety and security considerations
- threat analyses, security monitoring
- advisory activities for the development and evaluation of security concepts
- safety checks of target systems
- firewall configuration tests.
