TÜV SÜD participates in 12th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK 2010)
Singapore (May 13, 2010) - Held for the first time in Singapore from 13-14 May 2010, TÜV SÜD will be participating in the upcoming 12th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK 2010). APK aims to bring together world leaders and influential industry players to discuss important bilateral business and political collaborations between Germany and the rest of Asia, in particularly the ASEAN region. Dr-Ing Axel Stepken, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Management, TÜV SÜD AG, is among the panelists for “Sourcing in Asia – Strategies and Standards”, a session which will centre discussions on the challenges and opportunities prevalent in the sourcing industries.
Dr. Stepken brings to the panel extensive experience and important insights on issues related to global sourcing. He will be sharing his views on wide-ranging aspects including identifying key problems and opportunities in and across the Asian markets, expounding on current developments on quality issues in specific countries, and discussing the pertinent roles TÜV SÜD plays in different contexts. The APK is organized by the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce with the objective to foster business partnership between Europe and Asia. Unlike previous APKs which were country-focused, this year’s APK is region-focused and the decision to hold the conference in Singapore is predicated on its strategic location, excellent infrastructure and strong interconnectivity ties across the region. To facilitate an open dialogue, APK 2010 is conducted in English and German for the first time. Key issues covered include securing the needs of a growing world population on the first day, followed by a German exchange on how to enhance competitiveness of German products in Asia on the second. The objective of this conference is to promote German expertise in technology and innovation so as to further the development and needs of Asian markets in food security, energy-efficient technologies and other areas.
