TÜV SÜD expands its portfolio of rail services
Train control systems, traffic management, signalling systems – TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH has always been a reliable partner for railway companies, transport authorities and ministries when it comes to the planning, construction and operation of railway routes all over the world. To concentrate its portfolio of services in this sector, the company has now joined forces with TÜV SÜD subsidiary ISV mbH to found Swiss stock corporation ECG AG.
The aim of the merger is to provide one-stop services related to ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) and modern train control systems. By concentrating the rail-related expertise of TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH, ISV mbH and ECG AG, consulting services can now be supplied throughout the value chain from planning and construction to operation. The name of the new company indicates its scope: ECG stands for ERTMS Competence Group. Klaus Bosch, Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Rail, anticipates that the company will generate a further market share increase for the service sector in European transport management. "ECG AG will now enable us to provide more extensive one-stop consulting services for our customers. Given this, we expect the next five years to bring significant growth and consolidation in our 'Rail' business area", reports Bosch.
Although the service portfolio of the new company is primarily aimed at infrastructure companies, railway operators, transport authorities and railway ministries all over the world, its customers also include companies representing railway operators as main contractors, as well as the supply industry. ECG AG's key accounts come from Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. The company also oversees selected projects in Eastern European countries, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The Bern, Switzerland-based ECG is a non-listed stock corporation, with Managing Directors Arnold Trümpi and Hansjörg Hess.
