TÜV SÜD at IAA for the first time

This September TÜV SÜD will exhibit at the Frankfurt IAA, the International Automobile Show, for the first time. Under the slogan "Discover Diversity. Enhance Efficiency", TÜV SÜD will present its mobility services, ranging from future roadworthiness testing to cost-efficiency in car dealerships and environmentally-friendly fleet management, in Hall 8 between 17 and 27 September. TÜV SÜD's presence at the trade show will focus on the company's current activities addressing safety in electromobility.

"Given the significant number of electric-drive vehicles that will take to our roads over the next five years, we must now define international safety standards. Currently, standardization in this field still reveals major gaps", explains Dr Axel Stepken, CEO and President of TÜV SÜD. These gaps must now be closed: "If electromobility is to be safe as well as clean, we need clear standards", Dr Stepken continues. Given this, TÜV SÜD's motto at its press conference on 16 September will be "E-mobility – surely but safely". "Our particular concern is the functional, electrical, chemical and mechanical safety of lithium-ion batteries", explains Dr Stepken. However, TÜV SÜD's presence at IAA will embrace more than the safety of electric cars. The experts will provide information about the realization of e-mobility in general and have prepared a representative study in collaboration with Technomar, a market research institute.

Pooled expertise for car dealerships and repair shops

While numerous manufacturers and suppliers have cancelled their presence at the most important automobile trade show in the face of the financial and economic crisis, TÜV SÜD very deliberately decided to go to Frankfurt: "We are convinced that we can use the expertise pooled in our subsidiaries and our innovative solutions for car dealerships and repair shops to assist our clients in finding their way out of the crisis – be it by taking over the more complex services on behalf of car dealerships or by providing economical and ecological fleet management, employee qualifications and practice-oriented consultancy", emphasizes Horst Schneider, CEO of TÜV SÜD Auto Service. "In this context, we also plan to demonstrate that TÜV SÜD offers far more than roadworthiness testing. "At the IAA, TÜV SÜD Auto Service, which bundles TÜV SÜD's mobility business, will present its own services and those of its five subsidiaries TÜV SÜD Auto Partner, Auto Plus, APZ, FleetCompany and LC Auto Consult. TÜV Hessen, in which TÜV SÜD has a 55 per cent holding, will also be present at the stand in Hall 8.
