1. TÜV SÜD has strengthened its position in France. By establishing its new subsidiary TÜV SÜD France SAS, the international provider of testing and certification services has doubled its staff in France to over 20. The new subsidiary is slated to grow rapidly over the next years.

Horst Schneider new Member of the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD (19.07.2010)

1. With effect from 1 August, Horst Schneider (61) will join the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG and take over responsibility for the MOBILITY Strategic Business Segment. Schneider, who has been CEO of TÜV SÜD Auto Service GmbH since 1995, has been with TÜV SÜD for 35 years.

TÜV SÜD and E.ON will collaborate closely in future in the testing and advanced development of electromobility charging systems, with the primary objectives of developing safety standards and achieving rapid production-readiness for a broad range of user-friendly vehicle charging stations. This announcement was made by Dr Axel Stepken, President and CEO of TÜV SÜD, and Dr Dierk Paskert, Member of the Management Board of E.ON Energie AG, at the reopening ceremony for the modernized TÜV SÜD Service Centre at Starnberg on Friday 9 July. TÜV SÜD enters vehicle inspection market in South Africa (01.07.2010)

1. TÜV SÜD is entering the vehicle inspection market in South Africa and has acquired a shareholding in AVTS Roadworthy Stations. TÜV SÜD continues its course of growth (10.05.2010)

1. Despite the global financial and economic crisis, TÜV SÜD succeeded in significantly increasing its revenue in 2009. The revenue of the international service group rose by 4.5 per cent to EUR 1.427 billion, while the consolidated income before taxes remained almost at the previous year's level at EUR 101 million. The number of employees throughout the world rose by almost 500, to 14,635. In fiscal 2010, the service group expects further growth, fuelled in particular by the acquisition of companies.

TÜV SÜD recognized as certification body for biofuels (01.03.2010)

1. In future, all companies placing biofuels on the European market must meet the statutory sustainability standards. Germany is the first EU country to introduce a certification instrument for this purpose. TÜV SÜD has now received preliminary authorization as a Certification Body from the German Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung, BLE), enabling the company to provide certification of the production conformity of liquid biofuels and other bioliquids with the Biomass Sustainability Ordinance.

TÜV SÜD unveils certification mark dedicated to the global footwear industry (19.02.2010)

1. The readers of British business magazine "Environmental Finance" have selected TÜV SÜD as best verifier of climate change projects under the Kyoto Protocol. Over the last eight years, the emissions trading experts have realized over 1,200 projects based on the Kyoto Protocol. TÜV SÜD explores limits of lithium-ion batteries for cars (09.12.2009)

1. The world's first dynamic crash tests of lithium-ion batteries for passenger cars were completed successfully on the TÜV SÜD test ground in Munich Allach. 1. At the 2009 Conference of the International Labour Organisation, Dr Axel Stepken, CEO and President of TÜV SÜD AG, signed the "Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health at Work". By signing this declaration, presidents, prime ministers and decision-makers in industry proclaim their social responsibility for ensuring, safe, healthy and fair work conditions. TÜVTURK completes 5 millionth vehicle inspection (04.11.2009)

E-mobility: TÜV SÜD turns focus to battery safety (16.09.2009)

1. According to TÜV SÜD, internationally binding safety standards are urgently needed to ensure safe electric mobility. This applies in particular because lithium-ion batteries, a key component of future drive systems from all manufacturers, involve high risk potential in the areas of functional, electrical, chemical and mechanical safety. These risks are not adequately addressed by current test standards, emphasized TÜV SÜD President and CEO Dr Axel Stepken at a press conference held on Wednesday morning (16 September) at the IAA in Frankfurt. Dr Stepken also announced that TÜV SÜD will carry out the first crash tests with lithium-ion car batteries as early as this autumn.

"Eco-friendly", "innovative" and "sensible" are the attributes consumers name most often in connection with electric cars, according to a representative survey conducted by TÜV SÜD and market research institute Technomar. TÜV SÜD America Awarded 12-Month Ford Contract (20.08.2009)
