Where components or subsystems are to form part of the elements that make up the European high-speed network or conventional network (such as ERTMS/ETCS), certification is mandatory. These products have to meet the requirements of Directive 96/48/EC or Directive 2001/16, on interoperability.

As a European notified body, Railcert can assess compliance. Notified bodies are responsible for making an assessment of conformity with safety requirements that will be recognised by the EU member states and as many European countries as possible. Railcert is up to date on the latest developments and procedures related to the Technical Specifications for Interoperability, enabling us to test systems and associated documentation for the high speed and conventional network against the latest specifications.
